From Beehive Farm, Apple walnut cheddar.
This cheese is cold-smoked in small batches using local Utah walnut shells and slices of red apple. Apple Walnut Smoked has a subtle sweet and nutty flavor with a hint of smoke.

Mossend Blue:Cheesemaker Neil Urie has hit the jackpot with Mossend Blue, a sheeps’ milk cheesewhose paste is riddled with spidery blue veins. Crumbly at first bite, but then melts
in your mouth with a lovely balance of savory and sweet that is characteristic of
famous French Perseille style blues. Flavors range from bright aromatic spice, to
earthbound, root-like elements, to thick, dense fudge. Aged 4-5 months
Named after a farm in Scotland..

Happy 4th From Bloomy.

The official start of the summer for me has always been the 4th of July. Celebrate the 4th in style with this new into the store fantastic Barbaclettes, from Boska. Perfect for placing on the grill and having a summer raclette party or to melt cheese for a great steak or burger. Bloomy Rind will also be offering many summer sides to pick up and save time during this busy weekend, pea guacamole, romesco, carrot hummus, salsas, fresh summer sausages and more.

As this summer season gets under way more artisinal cheeses are coming available including,

Bloomsday from Cato Corner,CONN, A hugely successful mistake! says's the owner.." created this recipe out of necessity when a different batch did not go as planned, and we love the result". Named for Joyce's Ulysses, the Bloomsday is drier textured than many of our cheeses with a fabulous nutty flavor and addictive lingering aftertaste. Bloomsday is a perfect addition to any cheese plate and it makes a delicious sandwich or grilled cheese. Currently we are selling these at 6 months old, when the bite is medium sharp.

From Haystack farm Queso de Mano, CO, their first raw goat milk cheese, has a robust, nutty flavor with herbal hints. It is aged for a minimum of four months.

Inspiration from Mt Mansfield VT., washed rind cheese, raw milk, recipe from the Island of Corsica. The molds on the rind are typical of this French recipe. Smooth and semi-soft texture with a nutty flavor. Many times washed with Rock Art Beer. A favorite cheese amongst beer lovers.

As always we have the perfect accouterments and sandwiches to place in your 4th of July picnic basket or to take out on your boat.

We do ask that you pre-order the petit sandwiches 48 hours in advance as the bread is baked fresh in the morning.

Also, please look for our up coming article in Edible South Shore ...

Happy 4th

One year anniversary...

Yeah!!!...May 21st and The Taste of Hingham will mark the One year anniversary of Bloomy Rind. Mary and I would like to express our sincere appreciation to all the loyal customers who have supported us through our first year. Thank You!!!!

In other news, Bloomy Rind was proud to host the Boston Chapter of Les Dames d'Escoffier in our shop last Tuesday evening as they shared cheeses and foods prepared here at the shop during a quarterly board meeting (pictured above). Les Dames d’Escoffier is the only organization of its kind: a world wide philanthropic society of professional women leaders in the fields of food, fine beverage and hospitality. The invitation-only membership, composed of 28 individual chapters across the United States,

We will again be participating in this year's Taste of Hingham from 12-3 pm in front of our shop. From 3-6 pm we will be open to personally thank everyone for their support.

Keep in mind that summer winds will be blowing in soon (we hope). Remember that Bloomy Rind would be pleased to prepare picnic baskets offering an array of delightful food items for picnics or boating excursions.

Cheese , Cupcakes and St. Patrick's Day...

It's spring fever.... You don't quite know what it is you DO want, but it just fairly makes your heart ache, you want it so!” Mark Twain... After the winter of snowmageddon we all need a touch of spring fever. In the spirit of St. Patrick's Day we have brought in a gold medal winning cheese from Tipperary, Ireland called Cashel Blue. Made on a family farm, this award-winning cheese is Ireland's first artisinal farmstead blue.

This famous blue is firm and moist with a fresh lactic tang.

Our other selection for this Celtic holiday is Ardrahan Farmhouse Cheese, from County Cork.

The Irish Ardrahan is a semi-soft gourmet cheese with a pungent aroma; it is made from pasteurized cow's milk and has a buttery textured, honey-colored center with a complex delicate flavor. Please come by for a sliver and share a bit of the blarney with Mary!

Also scheduled to arrive back to our shop this month is a special cheese from Jasper Hill called Winnimere.
Winnimere, is a washed-rind stinky cheese whose funky outer appearance may intimidate the uninitiated. The pink crusted round is wrapped in dark spruce bark, which imparts a woodsy flavor. Inside the salty crust, the cheese is creamy, yeasty and tangy with a subtle fruity sweetness.

The cupcake photo above is to remind all that Bloomy Rind offers homemade cupcakes filled with creamy goodness. They make a lovely addition to our two daily soup specials.

New !!!
Reserve the Bloomy Rind harvest table for small, late afternoon or early evening gatherings and book club groups. Please call Mary to discuss your needs and available times.

Plan ahead. Call Bloomy Rind to create a delicious platter or slate filled with festive cheeses, charcuterie or petite sandwiches for your spring celebrations such as Mothers' Day; First Communions and graduations.
